Be a Good Steward
The waters of the Cobbossee Watershed were once pristine, with fish species such as salmon and lake trout thriving. Algae blooms , resulting from uncontrolled development, and the immediate threat of non-native invasive plants are the two major threats our waters face. Legislation and enforcement in themselves are not the answer - rather it will take all of us "to win". Here's how you can help:

Volunteer
Like to help out but not sure where to start? Assistance is needed in the following areas:

  • CBI (Courtesy Boat Inspectors) - Interested in helping to keep foreign plants like Milfoil and Hydrilla out of the Cobbossee Watershed? Receive certification (90 minutes class) and lend yourself for a few hours to inspect boats and educate boat owners at an area boat launch of your choice.

  • Special Events - Assistance is needed for events like the July 4 " Friends on the 4th " 5K Road Race, SLOW THE FLOW PLAY DAYS and other events.

  • Office Support - Have a background in office support (bookkeeping, typing, filing, envelope stuffing)? We can always use your help.

    The Friends of the Cobbossee Watershed is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Virtually all of our funding comes from individuals, businesses and corporations who voluntarily give of themselves to support our mission.

  • Annual Support
    Your tax deductible contribution to the Friends Annual Fund provides an essential portion of our operating budget and helps to support our programs and projects.

    You can honor the lake-lover in your life by giving a gift to sustain the protection and stewardship of the Cobbossee Watershed or one of its individual bodies of water.
